Jadeja continues, and Head defends the first three balls. He clips one off his pads, and a leg bye is called. Two more dot balls end the over. After 51 overs, Australia are 132-3.

Akash Deep continues, bowling brilliantly and deserving a wicket. Head and Smith are scoring freely, with Smith now showing confidence and intent. 5 runs come off the over, and after 52 overs, Australia are 137-3.Jadeja continues. 

Head steps forward and defends, then sends the next one back to the bowler. He defends two more deliveries and powers one to long off for a single. Jadeja oversteps, and a no-ball is called. Just 2 runs come off the over, and after 53 overs, Australia are 139-3.

Akash Deep continues with a bouncer, which Head ducks under. He'll get a single off the next ball. With two slips and a gully for Smith, he defends but ends the over with a boundary. 5 runs come off the over, and after 54 overs, Australia are 144-3.

Jadeja is brought into the attack. Head flicks for a couple, defends the next two, and then slams a boundary. The 50-run partnership between Head and Smith is up. 6 runs come off it, and after 49 overs, Australia are 127-3.

Akash Deep continues. He starts with a dot ball. Smith slams a boundary. Theres a loud shout for LBW, but the umpire isn't interested. Another appeal follows, and this time India reviews. Ball-tracking shows the ball was missing leg stump by a long way. 4 runs come off the over, and after 50 overs, Australia are 131-3.

Akash Deep from the other end. Head flicks through midwicket for a couple. He plays the next ball towards deep for an easy single. With two slips and a gully in place for Smith, he defends the rest of the over.

What an evenly poised session, with India finding their rhythm after a sluggish start yesterday. 

Bumrah made early inroads, dismissing both Australian openersKhawaja edging behind and McSweeney caught at second slip. Smith and Labuschagne began to rebuild, but Siraj's mind games rattled Labuschagne, who fell to a thick edge off Reddy. Smith, having made key adjustments to his stance and trigger, survived a couple of close lbw calls and has looked solid overall. Australia are 104-3 at lunch.

Nitish Reddy continues, and Head defends the first two balls before smashing a boundary! Two more runs come off the over. Six runs in total, and after 36 overs, Australia is 83-3.

Siraj keeps going, but it starts to drizzle. Smith leaves the first ball and takes a couple off the next. Siraj signals for the physio, appearing to have an issue with his left hamstring. He walks off, receiving some boos from the crowd.

There's a huge appeal for LBW against Smith. Akash Deep wants a review, and after a quick discussion they opt not to review. The replays show there was likely an inside edge. A top decision from the umpire, and good judgment from India not to review. Smith defends the rest of the over. Akash Deep finishes Siraj's over with two runs. After 37 overs, Australia is 85-3.

Smith exposes his leg stump before attempting a flick, and Siraj appeals for LBW. Pant and Rohit decide not to review. Replays suggest the ball would have missed leg stump by an inch or two.

Siraj walks over to Labuschagne, gets close for a quick chat, and then flips the bails off at the striker's end. Just as Siraj walks away, Labuschagne flips them back over, prompting the crowd to boo Siraj.

Siraj delivers a good-length ball just outside off. The crowd continues to boo Siraj.

Labuschagne finds enough space and takes an easy two runs. The over ends with a dot ball. After 33 overs, Australia is 72-2.

Reddy continues, and Smith clips one for three runs.

Reddy strikes! A thick edge, and it's caught by Kohli! No mistake from the fielder, and Labuschagne departs for 12 off 5 balls. An excellent performance from the young bowler!

Nitish continues bowling to Travis Head, who has been dismissed four times in his last four balls faced at this venue. Head successfully defends the rest of the over. Three runs and a wicket come off it, and after 34 overs, Australia is 75-3.

Siraj continues with a good-length delivery. Smith leaves it alone, and it's a dot ball. 

The next delivery, no shot offered, there's an LBW appeal. Siraj was celebrating before appealing and was shocked the finger didn't go up, as were Kohli and Pant. India reviews. Ball-tracker shows it was just clipping the off-stump on umpire's call, so Smith survives, and India retains their review.

As Head faces Siraj, the crowd grows louder. He defends the first ball and takes a single to end the over, getting off the mark. Just two runs come off it, and after 35 overs, Australia is 77-3.

Siraj continues, and Labuschagne plays one towards the front foot but doesn't score any runs. Batting slightly out of his crease, Labuschagne defends the remainder of the over. It's a maiden over for Siraj. 

Reddy comes into the attack, and Smith defends the first ball. He flicks the next delivery to the leg side and collects three runs. Labuschagne defends the rest of the over. After 30 overs, Australia is 65-2.

Siraj keeps bowling, and Smith takes a quick two runs off the first ball, then defends the rest of the over. After 31 overs, Australia is 67-2. 

Reddy continues, and Labuschagne defends the first three balls. He then plays one to the leg side and picks up two runs. There are calls of "boo" as Siraj puts in the hard work, followed by an excellent throw to Pant. 

The over ends with a dot ball. Just two runs come off it, and after 32 overs, Australia is 69-2.

Siraj continues, and Labuschagne pushes for a single. Smith leaves the next ball, then sends the following one back to the bowler. The bouncer sails over the keeper's head, giving away five wides. Smith defends the next ball and takes a single off the one after. Labuschagne blocks the final ball of the over. Seven runs come off it, and after 27 overs, Australia is 62-2.

Reddy comes on and bowls a maiden over to Smith, who defends solidly throughout. 

Australia has done well to only lose two wickets, especially with India having every advantage from the conditions. The question now is, can Reddy and Siraj maintain the pressure?

After the drinks break, Rohit hands the ball to Siraj, who has fond memories of the Gabba from 2021.

Labuschagne defends the over, and it's a maiden for Siraj. The last delivery looked dangerousSiraj thought he had his man, but India opts not to review due to concerns over height. Siraj tried hard to convince Rohit to go for the review, but ball tracking confirmed the delivery would have gone over the stumps.

A change at the other end as well, with Nitish Kumar Reddy brought into the attack. Smith defends the first few balls but manages to get a couple off the last delivery of the over. After 26 overs, Australia is 55-2.

Bumrah continues with a leg slip in place. Smith leaves the first ball untouched and blocks the next. Both Smith and Labuschagne take a single each from the remaining deliveries. After 21 overs, Australia is 44-2.

Captain Rohit keeps the attack going with Akash Deep. Labuschagne is beaten! He leaves the next two balls. Labuschagne then finds the gap and collects three runs. 

Smith defends the next delivery, but the following ball edges off his bat and races to the boundary for four. 

Seven runs come off the over, and after 22 overs, Australia stands at 51-2.

Bumrah continues his spell! McSweeney defends the first two deliveries, but edges the third to second slipan easy catch for Kohli! McSweeney is dismissed for 9 off 49 balls.

Akash Deep continues, maintaining a tight line close to the stumps, forcing McSweeney to leave consistently. Another maiden over from Akash Deep.

Bumrah carries on from the other endand there it is! A nick, caught behind by Pant! Bumrah delivers the much-needed breakthrough for India. 

They were desperate for it, and Bumrah has provided just what they needed.

Khawaja departs for 21. 

Three slips and a gully are in place for the new batter, Labuschagne, who solidly defends the remainder of the over.

Akash Deep is here, McSweeney breaks the shackles with a sliced shot past gully for four and follows it up with a quick single. Labuschagne gets off the mark with a couple towards fine leg before leaving the last two deliveries.

Seven runs come off the over. After 18 overs, Australia stands at 38-1.

The players take their positions in the middle. McSweeney is on strike, and Akash Deep is set to complete his fourth over with a field featuring three slips and a gully.

McSweeney leaves the first delivery untouched, and the next one as well. Oh no! Akash Deep oversteps and concedes a no-ball. McSweeney, staying composed, lets the following ball pass and opts to leave the last one too.

At the end of 14 overs, Australia stands at 29-0.

Khawaja nudges one through point for a couple of runs, then defends the next delivery. He leaves the following ball untouched. A massive shout for LBW follows, but the umpire isnt convinced, and India decides against a review.

Khawaja is then beaten by a beauty from Bumrah. Just two runs off the over. After 15 overs, Australia is 31-0.

Good morning and welcome to the coverage of the Third Test, Day 2.

A rain-affected Day 1 at the Gabba saw only 13.2 overs, but it already seemed like a good toss to lose for Australia. 1  

Indian bowlers struggled initially but improved after the rain break. 

The official forecast shows improvement from yesterday, though a few light showers are anticipated to move in from the southeast.

Can they exploit the conditions today?
