For the last two years, ever since my daughter was married to Murali, a lot has been written in the newspapers, so most of the patients know that Murali is my son-in-law.
My daughter told me they had a huge celebration at Kandy by bursting crackers, etc. Not only the family, the entire population of Kandy participated in the celebration. I am told they are going to name a stadium after him.
I went to Sri Lanka on the 9th of December. I bought some T-shirts for him, which I know he likes a lot. He is a very simple person who doesn't wear watches, chains or bracelets. One thing Murali likes is watching Tamil movies.
If I gifted him something, he would tell me, 'Why Aunty, what's the need to buy all this? Please just come and spend time with us. You are always working.'
Though I want to spend more time with my grandson, because I am a practising doctor I can't spend too many days there. He is very concerned about me and my other two daughters also. He enquires about all of them. Murali and my older son-in-law are like sons to me.
