ODIs at Kochi
Ind vs Zim - 3rd ODI,
About the Venue:
Kochi, previously known as Cochin, is the commercial capital of the state of
Kerala. It is a major port on the Arabian Sea, and is located to the south
west of India. It was a former princely state and came into prominence in
1500 when the Portuguese built their first settlements in the southern part
of the country. The Dutch then made the town its center of trade from 1663
to 1794, after which the British took over until 1947.
About the ground:
The Jawararlal Nehru International Stadium, is a multi-purpose one and so
far only two one-day international matches have been played here - both by
the home team - against Australia on 1-4-1998 and against South Africa on
9-3-2000. India won both the matches by 41 runs and three wickets.
