About the Venue
Recognised as the country's best and most modern cricket venue,
the Punjab Cricket Association Stadium at Mohali hosted its first
international match when India played South Africa during the Hero
Cup tournament on 22-11-1993.
Flood-lights were installed here
for the first tme during the 1996 World Cup, when it hosted the
semi-final match between Australia and West Indies on 14-3-1996.
In all seven one-day international matches have been played here
so far, with India playing in four matches - winning three and
losing one. The home team in fact had lost its last match here by
seven wickets against Pakistan on 1-4-1999. Zimbabwe are yet to
play a match at this venue.
