Somdev Devvarman and David Martin bowed out of the doubles event of the South African Tennis Open after losing the closely fought quarter-final against Karol Beck and Dudi Sela.
The Indo-American pair fought valiantly before losing 7-6(1), 3-6, 10-12 to Slovakian-Israeli pair in the last-eight stage match of the $442,500 ATP hard court event.
Beck and Sela had shocked top seeds Dustin Brown of Germany and Dutch Rogier Wassen 6-3, 7-5 in their opening round.
Somdev will now look to do well in the singles event where he has already reached the quarter-final.
He will clash against South African Rik de Voest for a place in the semi-finals.
