BJP MLA's killer penning autobiography in jail

Rupam Pathak, the schoolteacher who allegedly killed Bihar's MLA Raj Kishore Keshari in December 2010, has been busy in the jail penning an autobiography.

"Rupam is writing an autobiography in prison to expose the truth before the world on what led her to kill legislator Keshari," a close relative of Rupam, who did not want to be named, told rediff.com after he visited her in Purnia jail.

Keshari, a four-time BJP MLA, was meeting visitors of his constituency at his Sipahi Tola residence in Purnea on December 4 morning when Rupam allegedly stabbed him to death.

Rupam was sent to 14-day judicial custody a day later.

Rupam's mother Kumud Mishra had told rediff.com over telephone on Monday, "Her autobiography will be the real story of a woman who refused to accept defeat and teach a hard lesson to her exploiter."

According

to Rupam's relatives, her autobiography may put many in a tight spot.

There have been many rumours and theories on how and why Rupam killed legislator Keshari. Her autobiography is likely to put the rumours to rest and kick up fresh controversies.

Rupam's husband Ashok said his wife's allegations of sexual exploitation against Kesri last year were not baseless. "Her charges were true because a well educated woman like her will not do such a thing," he said.

In reference to Keshari murder, he said, "I agree that it was wrong to take the law in her hands but the killing of the MLA by my wife was the action of a helpless woman who has been sexually exploited," he said.

Kumud said her daughter knocked the doors of many police officers, but nobody helped her because of the political pressure. Rupam was staying with her husband and two children in Manipur before she started a school in Purnea in 2006. Her husband still is a principal at a public school in Imphal.
