3. Aamir Khan

Aamir has always been one of the industry's highest paid actors, but this year was indeed a gamble as he waited for the very end of the year before releasing his directorial debut, Taare Zameen Par. After all those perfectionist claims, the film had to stand up to critical surveying, and Aamir more than rose to the occasion with an impressive directing job.

Now, he has become the only one in the current set-up to wear all three hats, as producer-director-actor. He's made an inexpensive film and bolstered his reputation -- while simultaneously making back his money -- and the reviews will likely be awestruck raves.
