10. Abhishek Bachchan

December 24, 2007

2007 started on a fantastic note for Abhishek, with Mani Ratnam's Guru opening to overwhelming reviews, and the film serving as a great showcase for the actor. What scuttled his boat this year were his Yash Raj Films projects, Jhoom Barabar Jhoom and Laaga Chunari Mein Daag, the former reportedly YRF's biggest budget project.

Shaad Ali's Jhoom... would have been perfect for Abhi, his rapport with the director translating into yet another Bunty Aur Babli type hit, but Bachchan faltered as even relative nobody Bobby Deol came off looking less annoying. Laaga... was just a cameo, but anyone in that film would have trouble walking away minus shrapnel.

Have you checked out our Year-end Specials?

It's going to be a hard climb back to being considered hero material, but the newlywed has a superhero act in Drona and Rakyesh Mehra's Dilli 6 coming up in 2008, so we can hope. We can also hope he loses that ghastly hairband.

The son is almost shining.
