Pistol shooter Ankush Bhardwaj opened India's medal account by winning the 50m event on Monday at the Commonwealth Youth Games.

In a strange case, only two competitors - Bhardwaj and Murray Middletonand of Falkland Island - contested in the 50m pistol category and the Indian shot to the glory while Murray did not finish.
As per the Commonwealth Games Federation (CGF) rules only one shooter per country per event was allowed and even the hosts India are barred from fielding two shooters.
