Vaclav Sverkos of the Czech Republic celebrates after scoring the opening goal during the EURO 2008 in their match against hosts Switzerland at St. Jakob-Park in Basel on Saturday.
Sverkos, who came in a substitute for striker Jan Koller, scored the first goal of the 13th edition of the championships.
Koller, one of the most impressive players in the last edition in Portugal, looked lacklustre on Saturday and was substituted by coach Karel Bruckner. Needless to say, the substitution worked wonders and gave the Czechs their first win in the competition.
