The BMX track features a massive eight meter high starting ramp, including two separate straight-aways for men and women. The track is usually slightly downhill with a length of around 370 metres for the men's race and 350 metres for the women. The riders have to complete one run in less than 35 seconds.
The Olympic BMX event, featuring 32 men and 16 women, will have three quarter-final rounds followed by three rounds of semi-finals and one final round which will run for nearly two hours.
