In the men's 3000m final Surendra Singh won silver medal with a new personal best of 7:49.47s, an improvement of more than 15 seconds to his indoor best.

With three Qataris in battle, Surender remain with them till end but in the last curve Sultan Zaman of Qatar spurt ahead Surendra to win the race.

Sultan took 7:49.31s to win gold while Surendra and James Kurui of Qatar (7:50.76s) took silver and bronze respectively.
