Peer gave Williams a tought time in the first set, matching her stroke to stroke but the former champion powered through the tie-break before easily taking the second set.
After playing just four events all last season because of a knee injury, Williams had made a spectacular comeback in January lifting her eighth Grand Slam title at the Australian Open.
