Anthony Davidson
Chalk it up to the PlayStation.
Davidson, an addict of the Sony gaming console, used the Formula One game heavily to get a hang of the different circuits around the world. Bad news for moms, the television tomfoolery paid off big time. The talented British driver was chosen as test driver for BAR in 2001. The next year, he got to drive two races for Minardi, and while his qualifying time was mere whiskers off his very impressive teammate Mark Webber, he spun off in the races themselves.
He was third driver for BAR for another two years, following which contract tussles didn't allow him to drive for Williams -- Williams didn't agree to his driving for them in 2005 and heading back to BAR in 2006. His long-term Honda contract might have cut him off from on-track action for a while (he did drive 2 laps of the 05 Malaysian GP, though), but this just seems to have strengthened the youngster's resolve. After spending some of 2006 as a TV commentator, he's finally set to drive for Super Aguri.
He's tested; now it's go time.
