Wimbledon 2005, Day 9
Australian Lleyton Hewitt reached the Wimbledon semi-finals for the second time with a ruthless 7-5, 6-4, 7-6 victory over 26th seed Feliciano Lopez on Centre Court on Wednesday.
The 2002 men's title winner displayed his usual brand of gutsy tennis to end the surprise progress of his Spanish opponent and set up a last-four clash against the man who succeeded him as champion, world number one Roger Federer.
"It's great, last time I got to the semis, I went on to win the tournament so hopefully it's a good omen," said the third seed, who has lost to Federer in their last seven meetings.
"It's going to be a tough match, there's a reason why he's won here the last two years and is world number one. It's like a final for me so I'm just going to go out and give it my best and see what happens."
