Wimbledon 2005, Day 7

Third seed Amelie Mauresmo overcame a torrid start to beat experienced Russian Elena Likhovtseva 6-4, 6-0 in the fourth round.

The Frenchwoman, a semi-finalist on her two most recent visits, misfired badly for six games against the 29-year-old 13th seed on Court One before exploding into life.

By the time she wrapped it up after 62 minutes she was playing the kind of picture book tennis that could finally end her long wait for a grand slam title.

"The beginning of the match was a little bit tough for me, I couldn't find my rhythm," said Mauresmo, who will play another Russian, Anastasia Myskina, in the last eight.
