French Open champion Justine Henin-Hardenne paid a heavy price for her lack of grasscourt preparation when she lost 7-6, 2-6, 7-5 to Eleni Daniilidou of Greece in the first big shock of Wimbledon.

Henin-Hardenne pulled out of the pre-Wimbledon Eastbourne event in order to rest after her Roland Garros triumph, which capped the former world number one's return to form after 18 months disrupted by injury and illness.

"I knew I didn't have the best preparation for coming here and that was the worst draw I could get," added the seventh seed who also lost on grass to Daniilidou at Den Bosch in 2002.
