Spain's Tommy Robredo hits a return against Tomas Zib of the Czech Republic.
Robredo slipped up in the second set before sealing the match 6-4, 2-6, 6-2, 6-4.
The 13th seed put up an erratic performance as he hit as many as 53 unforced errors and eight double faults. But the lapses were nullified with 43 winners and and 16 aces.
The unseeded Zib, though steady, was blinded by the flashes of brilliance off the Spaniard's racquet.
Robredo will face Marcos Baghdatis of Cyprus, who upset 22nd seed Ivan Ljubicic of Croatia in four sets.
