Gujarat MPs seek separate Rajkot bench

Members of Parliament from Gujarat's Saurashtra region have demanded that a separate Gujarat high court bench be set up at Rajkot.

The MPs made this demand when they met Union Law Minister Ramakant Khalap and Chief Justice of India J S Verma on Monday. They also said a regular chief justice of the high court should be appointed.

The MPs -- Dr V R Kathria, Chandresh Patel, Bhavana Chikhalia, Govardhanbhai Javia and Dilip Sanghani -- said the state cabinet recently passed a resolution supporting the demand for a separate Rajkot bench.
