AP storm toll touches 30

The toll in the heavy rain, which lashed the coastal districts of Andhra Pradesh in the past three days, rose to 30 even as the cyclonic storm headed towards Bangladesh on Friday.

Official sources said Guntur district accounted for the maximum number of 14 deaths, followed by East Godavari six, Kurnool and Prakasham four each and Visakhapatnam and West Godavari one each.

The rain left a trail of destruction with paddy in thousands of acres damaged, and hundreds of tanks and roads breached.
