Pak infiltrators still find it a cool walk to Kashmir
Infiltration from Pakistan occupied Kashmir through the northern sector is still going on despite heavy deployment of security forces all along the border, a surrendered militant revealed in Srinagar.
The Pak-trained militant had handed himself over to the Central Reserve Police Force on Tuesday evening.
The militant, whose identity has been kept a secret for security
reasons, said he infiltrated into India from PoK in August this
year along with seven others, including four Pakistani
nationals.
The militant said he and nine other Kashmiri youths had moved to PoK for arms training. The group had, after a four-night journey on foot, reached PoK capital Muzafarabad. They were then transported to a training camp in the middle of a forest. During their 40-day stay there, the youths were trained to handle AK-56 rifles, light machine guns and other weapons.
After the camp, the surrendered militant revealed, he and seven
others infiltrated back into India via the same route. Each were carrying an AK-56 rifle, 30 rounds of ammunition and Rs 2,000 in cash.
The group ran into a security patrol in the forests of Kupwara district. In the ensuing encounter, one Pakistani and three Kashmiri militants were killed. However, the rest of them had succeeded in escaping.
CRPF Inspector General C M Pandey, meanwhile, has called upon the
misguided youths to shun violence and join the nation's
mainstream.
