Eight BSP workers crushed by train
Seven Bahujan Samaj Party workers travelling atop the Mussoorie Express to Delhi to attend the BSP rally there fell and were crushed to death and one was seriously injured near Sahibabad station.
Witnesses said one more person fell and died near the Shivaji Bridge railway station in Delhi.
A Northern Railways spokesperson said some of those travelling on the roof of the Mussoorie Express were forced to get off at Ghaziabad railway station. However, they ignored the warning and climbed back on to the coupler between two coaches as the train moved out of the station.
Several trains running were held up at Ghaziabad because of the accident.
More than 100,000 BSP supporters had converged in the capital on Monday for the BSP rally, billed as the biggest BSP event in the city. It is to be addressed by BSP chief Kanshi Ram and Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Mayawati.
