SC sets aside parole of Assam editor
The Supreme Court on Friday set aside the Guwahati high court order granting parole to Ajit Bhuyan, the arrested editor of the Asomiya Pratidin, who is also chairman of the Manav Adhikar Sangram Samity.
The Assam government had challenged the Guwahati high court's order of granting parole to Bhuyan following his arrest for his alleged nexus with the banned United Liberation Front of Asom.
The Supreme Court, however, directed the state government to shift Bhuyan to the Nagaon civil hospital or to Jorhat by Saturday noon.
Bhuyan is also accused of involvement in the murder of Sanjoy Ghose, Association of Voluntary Agencies for Rural Development (North-East) general secretary.
