Lightning kills 24 in AP

Twentyfour people including 16 farm workers were struck dead by lightning and thunder and four others killed in a house collapse in Andhra Pradesh on Thursday.

Sixteen farm workers including seven women were killed by lightning and thunder while they were working in fields between Vinukonda and Narsaraopeta in Guntur district.

Lightning also killed five people in Nellore district and three others in Chitoor district.

Six other farm workers who suffered burns were hospitalised at Guntur and Narsaraopeta.

In Kurnool district, four people were crushed to death when the roof of their house caved in following heavy rains at Kothamuchumarri.
