Mariam Rasheeda now detained under NSA
Maldivian national Mariam Rasheeda was detained on Tuesday under the National Security Act on orders of the Kerala government, just as she was about to be released on bail in the Indian Space Research Organisation spy case after being in prison for 32 months.
With the Central Bureau of Investigation closing the spy case, there is only a defamation case filed against her by two police officers. She was granted bail a couple of days ago by principal sessions judge M A Nissar on a personal bond of Rs 10,000.
She was brought from Viyyur central jail to the court of the judicial magistrate at Vanchiyur on Tuesday to complete the bail formalities.
The home secretary has issued an order for her detention under the National Security Act.
