Indefinite curfew in Nalbari district following killings
Indefinite curfew has been imposed on Tuesday in Natunhowli village in the Assam's Nalbari district after five persons, including three women and a seven-year-old girl, were killed by suspected Bodo militants in Matum Howli village on Sunday, official sources said.
The curfew was imposed at 6 am as a precautionary measure and no fresh incident had been reported so far from that area.
The district deputy commissioner and the superintendent of police had been camping in the area and monitoring the situation. The security forces have intensified patrolling and search operation to apprehend the militants.
State agriculture minister Chandramohan Patowary, accompanied by Director General of Police H Hrishikesan, and other senior officials visited Natunhowli and met members of the victims's families.
Earlier, Bodo militants had gunned down 13 people, including five women, at Hairabagi and Mechkuchi village on August 15.
