Diarrhoea claims 68 lives in Bihar

At least 68 people have died due to diarrhoea in some 72 villages of Nalanda district, Bihar, during the past fortnight, official sources said.

The sources said the dead include 29 women and 20 children. Around 200 people are still suffering from the disease, they said.

The 72-odd villages, from where the deaths have been reported, are in Asthama, Parwalpur, Biharsharif, Chandi, Hilsa, Ekangarsarai, Rahui and Harnaut blocks, the sources said.

The district administration has started providing medicines and is taking other preventive measures in the affected villages, they said.
