Religious procession stoned in MP; 30 hurt

Thirty people, including 10 police officials, were injured and more than a hundred vehicles damaged in clashes following incidents of stone-throwing on a religious procession in Dhar, Madhya Pradesh on Monday night.

District Superintendent of Police Ashok Kumar Soni, who was among the injured, said the procession was stoned in the Mandi area.

In the ensuing chaos, police had to use tear gas to control the crowd. A shop was set on fire by the mob.

Official sources said the situation is now under control.
