6 killed in Kashmir

A former National Conference leader and five militants were killed while security forces seized a large cache of arms including a rocket launcher and a rocket in the Kashmir valley on Monday.

Official sources said a former NC block president Abdul Jabbar was shot dead at Ladoo, Kakapora in Pulwama district.

Security forces killed two militants during a search operation at Bandipora. Some arms and ammunition were recovered from the slain militants.

A defence ministry spokesman said troops killed two militants at Dangulgund and Arampora in Baramulla during different operations. Two AK 56 rifles, a pistol, ten grenades, eight magazines and more than 100 rounds of ammunition were recovered during these operations.

He said troops recovered a rocket launcher, a rocket, six boosters, 20 detonators, 18 grenades and 11.5 kg of explosives during routine patrolling in the frontier district of Kupwara.
