CBI takes over anti-Sikh riots case against Tytler
The Central Bureau of Investigation on Tuesday said it
was taking over the investigation into the alleged involvement
of former Union minister Jagdish Tytler and two Delhi police
officials in a 1984 anti-Sikh riot case.
CBI counsel R S Jamuar informed Delhi high court Justice Anil Dev Singh
that the investigating agency would go
into the first information reports 633 and 639 of
October-November 1984 relating to the complaints of
three riot victims who lost their relatives during the riots.
The three riot victims -- Rajwant Kaur, her brother Dilbagh
Singh and daughter-in-law Balwinder Kaur -- had complained that
their relatives were killed by a mob allegedly incited by Tytler
and the two police officials.
The Delhi police stated that though the complaint of the
petitioners were received and registered, the case
was subsequently closed as the complaint was 'misplaced'.
The probe was transferred to the CBI from the Delhi police, which
had been in charge of the 1984 riots cases, by a high court order of
August 26.
