3 hurt in protests over killing in Champaran
Three people were injured when police opened fire on an irate mob demonstrating with the body of a businessman at Motihari town in east Champaran district on Thursday. The businessman was killed by unidentified criminals in Motihari on Wednesday.
Police sources said the injured were admitted to the Patna Medical College Hospital, where their condition was said to be critical. Three policemen were also injured in stone-throwing.
Meanwhile the Motihari bandh call given by the Chamber of Commerce on Thursday to protest against the murder of the businessman had a wide impact. The protestors have declared Friday a bandh.
Official sources said the situation was tense but under control.
