Bihar accords deputy chief minister's status to JAAC chairman

The Bihar government on Monday accorded the status of deputy chief minister to the Jharkhand Area Autonomous Council chairman, and that of a cabinet minister to its vice-chairman.

Further, the executive committee members have been given the status of deputy ministers, State Parliamentary Affairs Minister Raghunath Jha said. Jha said a copy of the notification has been made available to JAAC chairman Shibu Soren.

Soren and his party, the Jharkhand Mukti Morcha's support, is crucial if Bihar Chief Minister Laloo Prasad Yadav has to win the vote of confidence in the state assembly on Tuesday.
