Date sent: Tue, 09 Dec 1997 14:36:40 -0500 I read the above article published in Rediff. It is really eye-opening for us Tamils of Indian origin who are living abroad. Both Shobha's questions and Mohandas's answers were very direct and appear very truthful. Please publish more of this kind of stuff to enable us, who live abroad, to understand the real story as opposed to what the politicians say and want us to believe. One thing is clear -- Mr Karunanidhi is being used as a scapegoat unfairly, while those who contributed to Rajiv's (including himself) death and benefited from it, would like to continue to do so. It is mean. Congrats to Rediff, Shobha and Mohandas. Dr S Murthy
Date sent: Tue, 9 Dec 1997 19:11:36 -0000 Fantastic interview! Very insightful!
Date sent: Tue, 09 Dec 1997 14:38:56 -0500 Very revealing. Mohandas is evidently a man of clarity and conviction. His arguments must be further probed.
Date sent: Tue, 9 Dec 1997 19:31:13 -0600 This was a very good article. But some of Mohandas's claims state that MGR was directly involved in (helping) the LTTE. It is so pathetic that the government which cannot feed people has been feeding terrorists.
Date sent: Wed, 10 Dec 1997 12:17:45 +0530 Excellent job, very well done.
Date sent: 08 Dec 1997 22:48 EST Are you writing factual essays or making wild stories? If you say every Tamil supported the LTTE, so be it. We supported it. So what are you going to do? Why are you playing up Cho Ramaswamy's third rate journalism? Investigate, write. Don't sit and make guesses. If Indira Gandhi supported Tamil militancy it was for her own benefit. You also point out why they tried to kill Tamil militants off. Let them take the responsibility whoever it is. Please tell the whole story. Even Rajiv invited only Prabhakaran for the Indo-Sri Lankan accord. Rajiv kept him under house arrest in New Delhi. Point how Tamils are treated as if they are second class. Whatever you might want to portray don't think Tamils are fools again. They know who stands for their rights. Karunanidhi party has ideology. They stood for India and Tamils when the Congress clowns are split all over. Expect United Front to win big time. Kathiravan
Date sent: Tue, 09 Dec 1997 11:02:09 -0500 You should provide us with the email address of Clarks and the Internet address, so we can also file protests. We should take cues from the strength and weight the Jewish community puts behind defending their community's sensitivities, when people/organisations offend their rights or religion.
Date sent: Mon, 08 Dec 1997 20:30:06 -0500 I would like to express my support to fight Clarks, and also would like to help in any way I can. This kind of foolish and stupid mistake cannot be tolerated. Manish Patel Edison, NJ 08817
Date sent: Tue, 09 Dec 1997 13:07:33 -0500 I read your article "The Jain Commission leak provided the red rag for old bull Sitaram Kesri" It is a narration of what has been happening in India. And then you conclude it saying 'Could one pray....' That shows your/our helplessness. You very well know that something more than praying need to be done to change this. Please let us start thinking of doing that something rather than showing our helplessness.
Date sent: Tue, 9 Dec 1997 10:03:56 -0000 How exactly do you describe them as such ? A Parishad is a council -- in this case for the Hindus, and those who seek the welfare of the Hindus worldwide. It is also to stop slandering of Hindus or Hindu-related issues. How is that fundamentalist? If someone defends their mother from attack or abuse, are they fundamentalists? Or if the family rallies around, is the family fundamentalist? By the way, your service is good and informative, so be objective. Dharmesh J Chheda
Date sent: Tue, 09 Dec 1997 08:43:09 -0800 The BJP is in touch with Bangarappa and Hegde? The BJP stinks of the same opportunism and disregard for public morals, which the Congress and United Front is credited with by the BJP. Bangarappa is probably the most corrupt chief minister Karnataka ever had and I would consider this the most disappointing move by the BJP. I think India has lost all hope for a good government. Three pieces of the same filth -- Congress, BJP, UF...a great choice for India's future? Ravi Salagame
Date sent: Wed, 15 Oct 1997 11:44:56 -0700 I think the college's rule for a dress code and a ban on jeans is absolutely ridiculous. I dont see any reason for that. It is inevitable that there is going to be westernisation in India and it will begin in the sophisticated cities such as Bangalore, Bombay and there is nothing any college can do. There are no ethical issues in play here. There is a generation gap and the faculty has to understand that. The gap is to be breached. Enforcing rules onto the young generation will only make them more rebellious and make the situation worse rather than better. The students who are 18+ have the right to wear clothes as they like. It is weird that the college has no ban on smoking on the premises but will enforce a clothes ban. I think people in India pay more attention to these stupid and ridiculous problems rather than tackle more relevant ones such as teen smoking, sex and education.
