Taliban's main supply line may be cut off
The ruling Afghanistan militia's main supply line may soon be cut off as the anti-Taliban forces, led by General Ahmad Shah Masood, have opened two new fronts against them.
Radio Moscow said General Masood's forces launched offensives from Nangyar and Kunar in the north. The forces are reported to be only 30 km away from Jalalabad, adjoining the Pakistan frontier.
Both sides are reported to have suffered heavy casualties.
Meanwhile, the Taliban has spurned a ceasefire proposal, the radio said. It was also against the plan to demilitarise the country with the help of the United Nations and neighbouring countries.
However, the anti-Taliban forces appeared inclined to accept
such a proposal, the radio said.
