4 CRPF men killed, 9 hurt in ULFA ambush
At least four Central Reserve Police Force personnel died on the spot and nine sustained serious injuries when United Liberation Front of Asom activists ambushed them near Nahoratiya in upper Assam on Wednesday evening, official sources said.
The sources said the commandant of the tenth battalion was among those seriously injured. He has been shifted to the Assam Medical College at Dibrugarh.
The CRPF party was proceeding to their base at Khunsa in Arunachal Pradesh from Joypur in Assam when they were ambushed inside the Maharjan reserve forest at 1810 hours.
The heavily-armed ULFA militants shot from all sides and flung petrol bombs, killing four policemen on the spot. The petrol bombs caused an overhead high tension wire to snap and fall on the two jeeps of the CRPF party, smashing them and critically injuring nine personnel.
