Khurana withdraws his resignation as BJP vice-president
Bharatiya Janata Party vice-president Madan Lal Khurana withdrew his resignation on Sunday night in deference to the wishes of party elders, ending an 18-day stand-off with the BJP leadership over the Delhi chief ministership.
Khurana resigned from the party post on August 7 to
protest against the decision to retain Sahib Singh
Verma as chief minister in spite of the designated court giving him a clean chit in the Jain hawala scandal.
The breakthrough was achieved after senior party leaders Lal Kishinchand Advani and Rajasthan Chief Minister Bhairon Singh Shekhawat had day-long consultations with Khurana and the MLAs supporting him.
The details of the compromise package were not immediately known,
but Khurana expressed confidence that the BJP leadership would
take into consideration the feelings of legislators and party
workers.
