Dreaded militant Bhinda arrested in Punjab
Dreaded militant Bhupinder Singh, alias
Bhinda, was arrested near the Ajitwai railway station in Punjab's Moga district on Saturday night.
State police chief P C Dogra said
the militant was on his way to plant a bomb on
a Ludhiana-bound train when he was arrested.
Bhinda is a member of the International Sikh Youth Federation.
Dogra said the terrorist had received training in Pakistan from
the Inter Services Intelligence directorate.
Earlier, Bhinda was a member of the faction led
by Lakhbir Singh Rode. He had gone to Pakistan in January
1997 and stayed in Lahore
till June.
DGP Dogra said Bhinda crossed over to India in June from
the Jammu border along with three others. He was given one pistol,
three hand grenades and about 10 kgs of RDX. He reached Moga and met Buta Singh
and Gurinder Singh, another terrorist.
Bhinda is said to be responsible for last month's train blast at Lehra Khana in Bhatinda
district in which 34 passengers were killed and 75 others injured.
