DDA plans satellite city in north Delhi
The Delhi Development Authority proposes to develop a new satellite township in
north Delhi to reduce pressure on the city centre.
Work
would start on the Dheerpur mini-city -- as it has been christined -- in October, said DDA vice-chairman P K Ghosh. The satellite township would be spread over an area of 194.54
hectares and would accommodate 40,000 people.
The township would be on
the highway, about 1 km from the Coronation park. The DDA will begin with
157 hectares, Ghosh said.
It also proposed to construct three flyovers to
decongest the city. While one flyover would be at
Andrews Ganj, a second was being planned at Pragati Maidan. The
local for the third one is yet to be identified.
Further, Ghosh said the Authority was planning to set up a concrete plant. It would also introduce pre-fabricated and pre-cast technology to
rectify problems of water seepage in flats.
