Gangster-turned-MLA-turned-MP?

April 3, 2009
Gangster-turned-politican Arun Gawli, who has been arrested in connection with a murder and extortion case, will also contest the LS polls from Mumbai South.

Gawli will be the lone Akhil Bharitya Sena candidate to contest from the financial capital, according to Geeta Gawli, ABS corporator and Gawli's daughter.

After the delimitation, Gawli's Chinchpokli constituency, from where he got elected to the state legislature in 2004, falls under the South Mumbai constituency.

Gawli, who is lodged at Arthur Road jail in central Mumbai, is a Member of the Legislative Assembly from Chinchpokli.

The Crime Branch arrested Gawli last year in connection with the murder case of Shiv Sena corporator Kamlakar Jamsandiker and an extortion case.
