Church attacks: Mangalore in turmoil
September 15, 2008
The coastal district of Karnataka remained tense for the second day in a row on Monday, following group clashes, protests and demonstrations by various people to protest the attack on Churches by right wing Hindu activists on Sunday.
Police had to fire tear gas shells and resort to cane charge to disperse the mob, which targeted anything that came in their way.
Police sources told rediff.com that nearly 40 persons have been taken into custody following the violence that spread over the two days.
