A gentle flick. Then a sharp fierce wave. Or a passionate sweep. Followed by a little half pirouette. Then an emotional shake of the head. An ecstatic sort of grimace. A slice through the air. A step up on his toes...
The beautiful music dances from crescendo to crescendo. A cymbal crash or the tinkle of triangle or a sudden drum roll offers a bit of punctuation. And then it takes off into an even higher exuberant tempo before coming to an end.
Conductor Zubin Mehta and his magical white baton are a total treat to watch as he leads his orchestra through its second rehearsal on amchi Mumbai soil... There is plenty of poetry in the movement of his baton.
