While Kharge and Siddaramaiah spoke about the forthcoming elections, Krishna focused more on farmers' problems and also the need for unity during the polls. While Prakash spoke about morals and values, Jaffer Sharrief chose to travel down memory lane.
He pointed to Rahul and told him, "You were your grand mother's (Indira Gandhi) favourite grandson. I still remember how she used to hold your hand when you were a little boy and take you from Akbar Road to Safdarjung Road in New Delhi."
The rally signaled the end of Rahul Gandhi's much-hyped visit to Karnataka. Krishna Byre Gowda, president of the Karnataka Youth Congress, said that Rahul's visit had made a lot of difference to the state unit of the party and they were now enthusiastic about facing the elections in May.
However, it is too early to gauge the impact of Rahul's tour on Karnataka politics. Now, the people of Karnataka are waiting for Rahul's mother, Congress chief Sonia Gandhi's tour next month.
