At Bangalore, Rahul Gandhi fails to impress

March 29, 2008
At the mass rally in Bangalore on Saturday, it was evident that the 'crowd' had been specially arranged for the rally. When Rahul commenced his speech in English, a sizeable number of people were seen leaving the venue.

The Congress leader failed to connect with the crowd, which was clearly disappointed when he started speaking in English. There were a few half hearted whistles at the beginning of the rally, when Rahul was garlanded by local Congress leaders and presented with a sword.

However, some Congress leaders said that Rahul stuck to English as Hindi is not a popular language in Karnataka.

Once again, Rahul spoke on his favourite topic - the loan waiver scheme by the United Progressive Alliance government. Rahul said that his four-day tour of rural Karnataka had been fruitful.
