'Take an hour off for yoga, and be charged up all day'

February 12, 2008
Outside, Mallika sat with Rana and Shetty on either side and dropped what was probably a mandatory line for the media: "It was always my desire to learn pranayam from the Baba and today that wish came true and I am very happy."

As Mallika disappeared, taking the television cameras in her wake, the show went on.

The session had reached a stage when the crowd was clearly unable to keep pace. There was a point when he did the headstand and not one person even tried to follow it. They were too stunned to do anything but break into applause. Ramdev concluded the session, warning the participants that the key is to be regular. "You have come here and do this for six days. But that is not enough. You must go back to your homes and start doing these things regularly. Only then will you benefit," he said.

He concluded with another simple parallel. "All you people have mobile phones and you charge it every day so that it will last you the whole day. Yoga is like that for your body. Take an hour off before you begin your day and you will be charged up for the entire day."
