'She is still stuck on glowing skin'

February 12, 2008
IGiven the rapidly decreasing attention spans of the television audience, Ramdev who built his franchise on the basis of TV viewership, sure knows how to keep a crowd engrossed. One of the ways he does this is by using colloquial language while explaining the asanas and how exactly which asana will help in what way.

Explaining the Kapalabhati asana, he said, "A lot of people are troubled by grey hair. It starts at the head and then as the years go by, spreads to the face, body and finally the legs. Even women are going bald these days. If you want jet-black hair like me, do this regularly," to which Mallika again said, "Baba mera sirf glow bana le." Ramdev shot her a glance and said: "She is still stuck on glowing skin. Do the Kapalabhati. Everything will be fine."

As she struggled again, the swami said, "It is tough, but if you do it, you will be youthful for a long time." Soon, Mallika could no more keep pace with the proceedings and got up to leave. She thanked Ramdev and left, triggering a mad scamper among the television crews, who rushed out towards the exit to grab a quote. The crowd, which till then had not reacted to the banter on the stage, let out a hesitant laugh at the way the media men rushed out. Ramdev also joined in the laughter.
