Sanskrit at the New York opera

April 11, 2008
This three-act opera is one of the more famous and ground-breaking works of three-time Academy Award-nominated composer Philip Glass.

He composed Satyagraha, which looks at Mahatma Gandhi's early seminal years as well as his life in South Africa, in 1980.

Portions of the opera are inspired by the Bhagwad Gita and are performed in Sanskrit!
