'To India I come as a pilgrim'

An icon of non-violence pays homage to his spiritual master.

Dr Martin Luther King Jr, then only 30, and his wife Coretta Scott King place a wreath at Rajghat, Mahatma Gandhi's memorial, in New Delhi, in 1959.

'To other countries,' Dr King said, 'I may go as a tourist, but to India I come as a pilgrim. This is because India means to me Mahatma Gandhi, a truly great man of the ages...'
