Disaster on Flight JJ3054
July 18, 2007
Rescue workers recovered charred bodies from the wreckage. Brazilian President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva has declared three days of national mourning for the victims of the crash.
This was Brazil's second major air disaster after a collision between a Gol airlines Boeing 737 and an executive jet over the Amazon rainforest last September. 154 people on the Gol jet died.
None of the passengers on board Flight 3054 are likely to have survived.
