May 25, 9 am: Patience
The Jawaharlal Auditorium is empty. The few students left lie quietly on mats, staring into space or chatting quietly amongst themselves. Propped up against a column is Devjit Ganguly, a spindly engineering graduate from a college in Tollygunge, Kolkata.
Devjit graduated 3 years ago and is still looking for a job. It has been 4 days since he arrived in Delhi, but he knows why he did. "There are strikes in Kolkata too," he tells me, "but they aren't as spirited, which is why I came here. What doctors need most now is morale. I didn't want people to say, 10 years from now, that they only managed a 12-day strike before failing..."
