This argument makes sense.
If Rahul Gandhi is launched on the battleground of UP, then the expectations will be unrealistically high too. Congressmen will expect sheer magic from Rahul but in UP no magic is going to work in view of the ground realities where Congress candidates are losing deposit in elections most of the time and from most of the places, so why gamble Rahul Gandhi's career away?
Another oft-repeated argument is that Rahul Gandhi himself is not interested in a bigger role.
His repetition of "I am still learning" has percolated. His message to young Congressmen is that they should try and understand the poor people's problems.
